SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

WEBSITE

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22 year old has just met the girl of his dreams...literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre—smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

7 Deadly Exes And 1 Flick That Sticks
‘The awful ex’ is a phrase many people may have to unfortunately face in relationships. In the new movie, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Scott Pilgrim, played by Michael Cera, not only has to deal with one awful ex, but seven deadly exes he battles to the death for Ramona Flowers, (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The hilarious comedy, based on Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series, has many eccentric characters to match its' unique plot. This flick is one movie you do not want to miss. Sitting in a roundtable interview, director Edgar Wright and actor Brandon Routh, who plays Todd Ingram, discussed the film’s epicness. “Scott Pilgrim mythologizes all of the exes in the movie and at some point I think we all have done that,” Wright said. The movie is more than a simple mythologized fantasy from Scott Pilgrim. The added animation brings viewers back to the days of playing Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros, blended with aerobatic kung-fu fight scenes, punchy comedic lines, and a cast that melts together like an M&M in your mouth. Wright does not disappoint. “This is the biggest budget I have had and I wanted it to look like what was put into it”, he said. The cast includes some fan favorites, like Michael Cera and Brandon Routh, and some satisfying surprises which keep the film fresh and interesting. Each character is perfectly cast and all play off each other with precision. Routh discussed how all the actors participated in an 8-week boot camp to train for the fight scenes, which keep the film’s balance of action and comedy. “Meeting every morning helped the chemistry we all had in the film and it was a lot of fun,” said Routh. Scott Pilgrim brings spunk to the screen and is a movie not to ‘ex out.’ - Erica Lee

Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 purple hearts, 3 Congressional Medals of Honor and 7 presidential medals of bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet. In 2010, Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live's clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber. In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that's been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he's the only one tough enough for the job. Assembling an elite team of experts--Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)--MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox. His crime scenes may get messy. But if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.
